Il est appelé saint Jean-Paul II par les catholiques depuis sa canonisation en 2014..
The medal is preserved with a red card bearing the inscription: PP GIOVANNI PAOLO II / SOUVENIR / CITTA DEL VATICANO and the Pope's coat of arms. It is kept with four coins: two 100L and two 50L. Karol Józef Wojtyła was a Polish priest, bishop and later archbishop of Kraków, and cardinal, elected Catholic Pope on October 16, 1978, taking the name John Paul II (Latin: Ioannes Paulus II, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II, Polish: Jan Paweł II). John Paul II succeeded John Paul I who reigned for only one month between August 26 and September 28, 1978. The vacant seat (sede vacante) was filled by Cardinal Camerlengo Jean Villot between September 28 and October 16. On October 16, Karol Wojtyla, a Pole, the first foreign pope since 1523, takes the name of John Paul II.
