Commentary

Taisho Tenno est le nom de règne de l’empereur Yoshihito (1879-1926). Troisième fils de l’empereur Meiji, il régna du 30 décembre 1912 au 25 décembre 1926. Durant son règne, furent poursuivies la modernisation et l’industrialisation du Japon entreprises par son père. Cette période fut aussi marquée par un renforcement de l’impérialisme ainsi que par des avancées libérales telles que l’instauration en 1925 du suffrage universel.
Taisho Tenno is the reign name of Emperor Yoshihito (1879–1926). The third son of Emperor Meiji, he reigned from December 30, 1912, to December 25, 1926. During his reign, the modernization and industrialization of Japan, initiated by his father, continued. This period was also marked by a strengthening of imperialism and liberal advances such as the introduction of universal suffrage in 1925.
