In 1859, the Lombard-Venetian Kingdom, the name given to the Austrian possessions in Italy, was amputated from Lombardy. In 1866, the Austrian troops were definitively defeated. The Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia is a state dependent on the Austrian Empire. It was created at the Congress of Vienna in 1815 after the fall of Napoleon I and the Kingdom of Italy he had established.
