Historical background

ITALY - KINGDOM OF SARDINIA - VICTOR-EMMANUEL I

(5/06/1802-13/03/1821)

Victor-Emmanuel I (24/07/1759-10/01/1824) is the second son of Victor-Amédée III and Marie de Bourbon. He succeeded Charles-Emmanuel IV in 1802. In 1789 he married Marie-Thérèse of Modena. He did not actually recover the Kingdom of Sardinia until 1814, at the end of the Napoleonic epic and the Treaty of Paris. He abdicated in favor of his brother Charles-Félix in 1821.
