Ce jeton a été frappé et distribué pour la création de l'Ordre de la Couronne de fer, le 5 juin 1805. Cette distinction, à l’image de la Légion d’Honneur en France, permettait “d’assurer par des témoignages d’honneur, une digne récompense aux services rendus à la Couronne tant dans la carrière des armes que dans celle de l’administration, de la magistrature, des lettres et des arts”. This example does not have a hallmark on the edge although it appears to be a re-strike. This is why we classify this example as a re-strike. Studying the edge leaves us skeptical about the nature of the metal, hence our choice for silver-plated bronze. This token was struck and distributed for the creation of the Order of the Iron Crown, on June 5, 1805.
