Reverse description : Saint Ambroise assis de face, tenant le fouet de sa main droite et la crosse de la main gauche, coupant la légende en bas, accosté de deux annelets.

La guivre est la vipère en latin ; c'est aussi un serpent fantastique ou héraldique qui figurait dans les armes de la famille Visconti. Saint Ambroise (340-397) est le saint de Milan dont il fut l'évêque de 374 à sa mort.Il s'opposa à Symmaque, aux païens et au maintien de l'Autel de la Victoire dans le Sénat en 384. Il baptisa également saint Augustin..
