Commentary

Cette monnaie appartient au premier monnayage de cuivre européen d'époque moderne. Les motifs du droit et du revers sont inspirés de l'Antiquité. Le buste de Ferdinand Ier, avec la couronne radiée, est copié sur des antoniniens du IIIe siècle. Des cavalli au même type furent frappés à Aquila, Brindisi et Amatrice.
This coin belongs to the first European copper coinage of the modern period. The motifs on the obverse and reverse are inspired by Antiquity. The bust of Ferdinand I, with the radiate crown, is copied from 3rd-century antoninianus. Cavalli of the same type were struck in Aquila, Brindisi, and Amatrice.
