Commentary


Rapallo est une ville italienne d'environ 30 500 habitants, située dans la ville métropolitaine de Gênes, dans la région Ligurie, dans le nord-ouest de l'Italie. De 1805 à 1814, Rapallo fit partie de l'arrondissement de Chiavari, dans le département des Apennins, créé le 6 juin 1805, dans le cadre de la nouvelle organisation administrative mise en place par Napoléon Ier en Italie et supprimé le 11 avril 1814, après la chute de l'Empire.
C'est à Rapallo que fut composée en 1901 l'ébauche de ce qui allait devenir la symphonie nº 2 de Sibelius.
Le 12 novembre 1920, le traité de Rapallo y fut signé. Un autre traité y fut conclu, le 16 avril 1922, entre l'Allemagne et l'URSS, dans le but de normaliser leurs relations..
Rapallo is an Italian city of approximately 30,500 inhabitants, located in the Metropolitan City of Genoa, in the Liguria region of northwestern Italy. From 1805 to 1814, Rapallo was part of the Chiavari district, in the Apennines department, created on June 6, 1805, as part of the new administrative organization established by Napoleon I in Italy and abolished on April 11, 1814, after the fall of the Empire. It was in Rapallo that the draft of what would become Sibelius's Symphony No. 2 was composed in 1901. On November 12, 1920, the Treaty of Rapallo was signed there. Another treaty was concluded there, on April 16, 1922, between Germany and the USSR, with the aim of normalizing their relations.
