Commentary


Charles-Louis (1800-1847) est le fils de Louis Ier de Bourbon, l'éphémère roi d'Etrurie (1801-1803). Il fut Roi d'Etrurie sous la régence de mère, Marie-Louise. En 1807, ses États furent annexé à La France. Suite au Congrès de Vienne, Marie-Louise entre en possession du Duché de Lucques. Charles-Louis devient Duc à la mort de sa mère. A sa mort, le Duché est rattaché au Grand Duché de Toscane. En 1837, 153 047 pièces de 2 lire ont été frappées. Elles imitent les revers des pièces de Louis XVIII et de Charles X.
Charles-Louis (1800-1847) was the son of Louis I of Bourbon, the short-lived King of Etruria (1801-1803). He was King of Etruria under the regency of his mother, Marie-Louise. In 1807, his states were annexed to France. Following the Congress of Vienna, Marie-Louise came into possession of the Duchy of Lucca. Charles-Louis became Duke upon his mother's death. Upon her death, the Duchy was annexed to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. In 1837, 153,047 2-lira coins were minted. They imitated the reverses of the coins of Louis XVIII and Charles X.
