Historical background

IRAN - MOHAMMAD ALI SHAH QADJAR

(1872-1925)

Mohammad Ali Shah Qajar was born on June 1, 1872 in Amol and died in Sanremo, Italy on April 8, 1925. He was Shah of Iran from January 8, 1907 to July 16, 1909. Opposed to the constitution ratified during the reign of his father, Mozaffareddine Shah, he dissolved the assembly and was supported by Russia. He abdicated in favor of his son Ahamad Shah Qajar following the Constitutional Revolution. This revolution, against the despotic rule of the Qajar shahs, began in 1905 and lasted until 1911. It resulted in the founding of a parliament in Persia (Iran), the Madjles.
