Exemplaire sur un petit flan, légèrement décentré au droit sur le protomé de lion. Joli revers bien venu à la frappe. Belle patine de collection avec des reflets dorés

Commentary
La tête du lion est plus allongée avec la crinière bien visible. La langue de l’animal est visible. Le décor du revers est beaucoup plus ornementé.

Historical background
IONIA - MILETUS
(6th - 5th century BC)
Miletus, founded in the 12th century BC, had been the seat of the Ionian Confederation. During the War of Liberation, it was crushed in 494 BC. Its cult of Apollo was renowned throughout Asia Minor. Its settlers founded, among others, the colonies of Abydos, Cyzicus, Sinope and Panticapaeum.
