Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire sur un flan ovale irrégulier, bien centré des deux côtés. Très joli droit, bien venu à la frappe avec une usure superficielle. Patine gris foncé de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

Commentary
Ce type très rare pourrait avoir été frappé au moment de la révolte Ionienne(494 avant J.-C.) contre le Grand roi (Achéménide) en l’occurrence Darius Ier, à l’origine des guerres Médiques. Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. C’est la première fois que nous le proposons à la vente.

IONIA - KLAZOMENAI
(6th - 5th century BC)
Clazomene, located in the southern peninsula of the Gulf of Smyrna, was placed under the protection of Apollo, protector of the herds. The swan on the reverse seems to have been a play on words with the name of the city. At the mouth of the Hermos delta, Clazomene was a breeding region. Anaxagoras was from Clazomene.
