Historical background

INDIA - HYDERABAD

(1724-1948)

The state of Hyderabad is a former state in central India ruled by a hereditary Muslim Nizam from 1724 to 1950. In 1798, it was integrated as a princely state into the British Raj. During India's independence, the last Nizam Othman Ali Khan tried to regain his independence but was deposed in 1948 following the invasion of Indian troops. The state of Hyderabad became a state of the Republic of India.
