Historical background

INDIA - ABHIRAS - ISVARADATTA

(3rd century)

The Abhiras were a Saka tribe mentioned in an inscription for the first time in 181. They formed an entity at the beginning of the 3rd century on the ashes of the Andhra kingdom. Their era seems to start in 248 and will last 167 years until 414. Except Isvaradatta, several other kings are mentioned by the inscriptions like Isvarasena, son of Sivadatta in 257.
