En 1803, les corsaires français opérant depuis l’Île de France récupèrent d’importantes quantités de monnaies de la Compagnie des Indes Orientales anglais (East India Company). En 1810, le gouverneur Decaen autorise la mise en circulation de ces monnaies. La monnaie de 20 Cash vaut alors 3 sous.
In 1803, French privateers operating from the Île de France recovered large quantities of coins from the English East India Company. In 1810, Governor Decaen authorized the circulation of these coins. The 20 Cash coin was then worth 3 sous.
