Commentary
Madras fut fondé en 1639 et le Fort Saint-George sur la côte en 1641. L'atelier fut d'abord installé dans le fort. En 1742, La Compagnie des Indes Orientales obtint le droit de faire fabriquer des ruppes. La Pagode valait entre 36 et 45 fannam ou 3,5 ruppes.

Madras was founded in 1639 and Fort St. George on the coast in 1641. The workshop was first set up in the fort. In 1742, the East India Company obtained the right to manufacture rupees. The pagoda was worth between 36 and 45 fannams or 3.5 rupees.
