Obverse description : Buste rayonnant de trois quarts gauche d’un empereur moghol, probablement Babur, coiffé d’un turban sophistiqué duquel dépasse une palme dressée vers le haut, et vêtu d’une tenue d’apparat. Inscription circulaire en arabe mentionnant les dates 888 et 937.

Commentary


Alliage probablement à base d’étain et de cuivre. Fabrication artisanale.
Les dates de 888 et de 937 du calendrier de l’Hégire, correspondant à 1483 et 1530 dans le calendrier Grégorien, pourraient faire référence aux dates de naissance et de mort de Babur, premier empereur moghol. Descendant des Timurides (ou Timourides), Babur fonde l’empire en 1526 grâce à sa victoire à la bataille de Panipat.
Alloy probably based on tin and copper. Handcrafted. The dates 888 and 937 in the Hegira calendar, corresponding to 1483 and 1530 in the Gregorian calendar, could refer to the birth and death dates of Babur, the first Mughal emperor. A descendant of the Timurids (or Timurids), Babur founded the empire in 1526 thanks to his victory at the Battle of Panipat
