Commentary
Jean-Baptiste François est né le 2 septembre 1720. Il est le fils de Jean-Baptiste de La Michodière et de Louise-Elisabeth Rochereau d’Hauteville.C’est un grand commis d’État, à l’Image de nos actuels énarques. Conseiller du roi au Grand Conseil à 19 ans, maître des requêtes ordinaires à 25, il est président du Grand Conseil à 30. Il devient intendant de Riom en 1753, de Lyon en 1757 et jusqu’en 1762, Intendant de Rouen la même année, conseiller d’État en 1768, Prévôt des marchands de 1772 à 1777. Il meurt en 1797. Jean-Baptiste François remplit l’office de Prévôt des Marchands de Paris, circonscription territoriale dans laquelle s’exerce la juridiction de l’Investiture, pendant presque six ans. Bien entendu, il a donné son nom à la rue et au théatre éponyme.
