Commentary
Hesitations concerning the affiliation of the arms. Two families have coats of arms composed of a silver band charged with three martlets: the Le Boistel family and the Bourgeois de Boynes family. The presence of the two lions would point us towards the Le Boistel family, but the ornate monogram composed of two “B”s on the reverse of the token would point us towards the Bourgeois de Boynes family. In addition, the Carnavalet Museum website attributes the arms on this token to the Bourgeois de Boynes family. This unpublished token is also a re-strike
