Obverse description : Armes de Armand-Jérôme Bignon couronnées et entourées des colliers des ordres de St Michel et du St Esprit, soutenues par deux anges : d'azur à la croix haute d'argent, posée sur une terrasse de sinople d'où sort un cep de vigne qui entoure la croix, cantonnée de quatre flammes d'argent.

Reverse legend : VILLE. DE. PARIS AU-DESSUS DU CARTOUCHE.

Reverse description : Écu aux armes de la ville de Paris sur un cartouche décoré.

Commentary

C'est en 1743 que Armand-Jérôme Bignon avait obtenu la charge de bibliothécaire du Roi. La même année, il entra à l'Académie Française et, en 1751, fut reçu membre honoraire de l'Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.
