Commentary

C'est en 1743 que Armand-Jérôme Bignon avait obtenu la charge de bibliothécaire du Roi. La même année, il entra à l'Académie Française et, en 1751, fut reçu membre honoraire de l'Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.
It was in 1743 that Armand-Jérôme Bignon obtained the position of librarian to the King. The same year, he entered the Académie Française and, in 1751, was received as an honorary member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.
