(1342-1382)

On the death of Charles-Robert, who died in Visegrad on July 16, 1342, his son Louis I succeeded him. Through his mother Elisabeth, he is the grandson of Valdislav I. Born in 1326, king of Hungary in 1342, he was also king of Poland from 1370. He first married in 1338, Marguerite (1335-1349), daughter of Charles IV of Luxembourg, then in 1353, Elisabeth Kontromanitch, daughter of Stephen Ban of Bosnia. He had only two daughters, Marie (1370-1395) who succeeded her father on the throne of Hungary in 1382 after having married Sigismond (1368-1437) in 1385, king of Hungary in 1387, king of Bohemia in 1419 and Emperor of the Holy German Empire in 1433. Hedwige (1371-1399), the second daughter of Louis I of Hungary, married in 1386 Vladislas II (1351-1434), Grand Duke of Lithunaie and King of Poland in 1386.
