HOLLAND - COUNTY OF HOLLAND - WILLIAM V OF BAVARIA

(1350-1389)

The House of Avesne administered the county of Holland from 1229. From 1345, Holland fell into the hands of the Wittelsbachs of Bavaria. Guillaume V of Bavaria married Matilda of Lancaster in 1352 who was interned in 1357 (+1362). In 1389, his brother Albert I (1336-1404) ascended the ducal throne.
