Obverse description : L'archange Gabriel visitant la Vierge, les personnages sont vus à mi-corps et placés derrière les écus accotés de France et de France-Angleterre. Gabriel tend un rouleau inscrit AVE (descendant) ; au-dessus cinq rayons de lumière divine.
Obverse translation : (Henry, par la grâce de Dieu, roi des Francs et des Anglais).

Reverse legend : (LÉOPARD) XPC* VINCIT* XPC* REGNAT* XPC* IMPERAT, (PONCTUATION PAR UNE SIMPLE ÉTOILE À CINQ RAIS).
Reverse description : Croix accostée d'un lis et d'un léopard, au-dessous une h onciale, chiffre d'Henri VI, le tout dans un décalobe fleurdelisé.

Salut d’or sans point secret ou annelet pointé sous l’une des lettres des légendes. Il a probablement été frappé sous la maîtrise de Robin Lambert, fin 1423 et avant le 11 mars 1424 (Clairand A. et Kind J.-Y., “Les maîtres de la Monnaie de Rouen et leurs différents monétaires (1418-1550)”, La Numismatique en Normandie, RTSENA 4, 2011, p. 83).
Gold salute without a secret point or pointed ring under one of the letters of the legends. It was probably struck under the mastery of Robin Lambert, at the end of 1423 and before March 11, 1424 (Clairand A. and Kind J.-Y., “The masters of the Rouen Mint and their different monetary units (1418-1550)”, La Numismatique en Normandie, RTSENA 4, 2011, p. 83)

Historical background
HENRY VI OF LANCASTER
Henry VI is the son of Henry V and Catherine of France; he was born in Windsor on December 6, 1421. When his father died, he was only ten and a half months old. A period of regency began and it was his uncle, the Duke of Bedford, who administered the kingdom of England. The Duke of Bedford had Henry VI crowned in Paris on December 14, 1431. During his reign, the English lost almost all their possessions in France, keeping only Calais after the capitulation of Bordeaux on October 19, 1453. In 1445, he married to Marguerite d'Anjou, to whom he gave up part of his power, suffering from fits of madness like his maternal grandfather, the King of France Charles VI. The loss of French territories was at the origin of the Wars of the Roses which began in 1455 and ended with the coronation of Edward IV in 1461 and the flight of Henry VI and Margaret of Anjou to Holland. In 1470, he was returned to the throne by Warwick, but Edward IV ended up having him imprisoned in the Tower of London where he died on May 21, 1471, probably assassinated..
