Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait d’Hélène. Revers de style fin. Belle patine marron avec des reflets métalliques

Reverse description : Securitas (la Sécurité) voilée debout à gauche, tenant un rameau baissé de la main droite et soutenant sa robe de la gauche.

Commentary
Les cheveux sont retenus par un diadème perlé. Collier de perles au cou. C’est l’une des dernières émissions d’Hélène pour l’atelier de Trèves. .

Wife of Constantius I, mother of Constantine I - Augusta
Helena, mother of Constantine and first wife of Constantius Chlorus, received the title of augusta in 324. After the death of Fausta and Crispus, she went to the Holy Land. In Jerusalem, she discovered remains of the true cross and founded many institutions. She died in 328, was sanctified and entered in the calendar.
