Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage sur un petit flan ovale, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Portrait magnifique d’Hélène de haut relief, un peu hiératique. Revers de toute beauté, finement détaillé. Patine gris métallique avec des reflets dorés. Conserve l’intégralité de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Wife of Constantius I, mother of Constantine I - Augusta
Helena, mother of Constantine and first wife of Constantius Chlorus, received the title of augusta in 324. After the death of Fausta and Crispus, she went to the Holy Land. In Jerusalem, she discovered remains of the true cross and founded many institutions. She died in 328, was sanctified and entered in the calendar.
