Historical background

GREAT BRITAIN - IV GEORGES

(29/01/1820-25/06/1830)

George IV (12/09/1762-25/06/1830) is the eldest son of George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg. After depraved youth, he became Regent in 1810 when his father's dementia is too serious. He married Caroline of Brunswick (1768-1821). Their only daughter Charlotte (1796-1817) married Leopold of Saxe-Coburg, the future King of the Belgians. His brothers William and Ernest Augustus IV respectively King of England and King of Hanover. His niece Victoria became Queen. George IV is an ultra-conservative, sworn enemy of Napoleon and traitor to the word given to the Emperor he leaves deported to the island of St. Helena. It is based on Wellington to govern.
