Exemplaire sur un flan large et épais pour la période. Beau portrait de Gordien III. Revers inhabituel. Patine vert foncé granuleuse

Reverse legend : SECVRIT PERPET/ S-|C.
Reverse description : Securitas (La Sécurité) drapée debout à gauche, les jambes croisées, le coude gauche appuyé sur une colonne, tenant un sceptre de la main droite.
Reverse translation : "Securitas Augusti" (La Sécurité de l'Auguste).
Commentary
Ce type semble beauoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. C’est la première fois que nous le poposons à la vente.

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations.
