Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier bien centré. Très beau buste de Gordien III. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine grise superficielle avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste radié et cuirassé de Gordien III à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (B4).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Gordianus Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur Gordien pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : ORIE-NS AVG.
Reverse description : Sol (Le Soleil) debout de face, regardant à gauche, levant la main droite et tenant un globe de la gauche.

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations.
