Exemplaire sur un flan très large, ovale, bien centré avec les grènetis complets. Très beau portrait. Revers de toute beauté. Jolie patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets mordorés

Reverse description : Victoria (la Victoire) drapée, marchant à gauche, brandissant une couronne de la main droite et une palme de la main gauche.

Commentary

Poids léger. Rubans de type 3. Les ptéryges sont invisibles sous le paludamentum. Nous n’avons pas relevé d’identité de coin pertinente.

Africa went into rebellion at the very beginning of the year 238. Gordian, governor of the Proconsular, took the lead in the revolt and immediately associated his son with the same name with power, by having him proclaimed Augustus. The Gordians are recognized by the Senate which hates Maximin I Thrace. But the reign of African emperors only lasted twenty-one days. The governor of Numidia, loyal to Maximin, enters Proconsulary with the III Augusta legion and crushes the ill-prepared troops of Gordian II. He is killed in battle. Hearing the news, his father commits suicide..
