Obverse description : Bustes affrontés de Gordien III lauré, drapé et cuirassé à droite vu de trois quarts en arrière et de Tranquilline diadémée et drapée à gauche vu de trois quarts en avant.

Reverse description : Tyché de Singara tourelée et drapée assise à gauche sur un rocher, tenant une branche de laurier, un dieu rivière nageant à ses pieds à gauche, tournant la tête à droite ; au-dessus, Sagittaire bondissant à gauche, décochant une flèche.

Historical background
GORDIANUS III and TRANQUILLINA
(241-244)
Gordian III married the daughter of the prefect of the Praetorian Timésithée, Tranquillina, in 241. The following year, she accompanied the emperor to the East. After the death of his father, replaced by Philip the Arab, we lose track of him. Gordian was assassinated in 244 at the instigation of the new prefect of the Praetorium.
