Reverse legend : PROVIDENTIA AVG.
Reverse description : Providentia (la Providence) drapée debout à gauche, tenant des épis de la main droite au dessus d’un autel et une corne d’abondance de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Providentia Augusti”, (La Providence de l’auguste).

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations.
