Exemplaire sur un flan parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets. Beau portrait. Joli revers. Patine grise superficielle

Obverse description : Buste radié de Gordien III à droite, avec cuirasse et paludamentum, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A2).
Obverse translation : "Imperator Cæsar Gordianus Pius Augustus" (L’empereur césar Gordien pieux auguste).

Reverse legend : ROMAE AET-ERNAE.
Reverse description : Rome, casquée, assise à gauche sur un bouclier les jambes croisées, tenant de la main droite une victoriola et de la gauche un sceptre.
Reverse translation : "Romæ Æternæ" (À Rome éternelle).

Commentary


Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. C’est seulement la deuxième fois que nous le proposons depuis ROME VII.

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238.
