Exemplaire sur un flan large, légèrement éclaté à 5 heures. Très beau portrait. Joli revers. A été nettoyé anciennement. Recouvert d’une jolie patine avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste drapé, tête nue de Géta à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A°21).
Obverse translation : "Publius Septimius Geta Cæsar", (Publius Septime Géta césar).

Reverse

Reverse legend : PONTIF - COS II.
Reverse description : Genius (Génie) nu debout à gauche, tenant une patère de la main droite, sacrifiant au-dessus d'un autel allumé, et tenant de la main gauche, deux épis.
Reverse translation : "Pontifex Consul iterum", (Pontife consul pour la deuxième fois).

Commentary

Poids léger. Sur cet exemplaire daté de la seconde moitié de l’année 208, la tête de Géta est légèrement barbue.

Caesar

Born on May 26, 189, Geta became Caesar in 198 and received the title of pontifex the following year. He accompanies his father and his brother to Brittany from 208 and is raised to Augustat the following year. When Septimius Severus died in York on February 4, 211, the two brothers brought their father's ashes back to Rome and became co-emperors. But they hate each other. Finally, after a year of joint rule, Caracalla kills his brother in their mother's arms. Geta is dedicated to "damnatio memoriæ" (damnation of memory). His supporters are systematically massacred.
