Exemplaire sur un petit flan épais, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait mature de Géta. Joli revers rare. Recouvert d’une belle patine grise avec des reflets dorés

Reverse description : Janus debout de face, tenant une haste renversée de la main droite et un foudre de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Tribunicia Potestate tertium Consul iterum Pater Patriæ”, (Revêtu de la puissance tribunitienne pour la troisième fois, consul pour la deuxième fois, père de la patrie).
Commentary
Rubans de type 2. Cassure de coin perceptible en début de légende de droit. Revers inhabituel. Rare portrait de Géta adulte, précocement vieilli, un an avant sa mort. Il vient tout juste d’obtenir sa troisième puissance tribunitienne, après le décès de Septime. Un seul exemplaire signalé dans le Hill. Dans MONNAIES XXVII, le n° 589 s’est vendu 385 € sur un maximum à 400 € et un autre dans MONNAIES 32, n° 305 à 395 € sur un maximum à 457 €.

Augustus
Geta, born on May 26, 189, became Caesar in 198 and the following year received the title of pontifex. He accompanies his father and his brother to Brittany from 208 and is raised to Augustat the following year. When Septimius Severus died in York on February 4, 211, the two brothers brought their father's ashes back to Rome and became co-emperors. But they hate each other. Finally, after a year of joint rule, Caracalla kills his brother in their mother's arms. Geta is dedicated to "damnatio memoriæ" (damnation of memory). His supporters are systematically massacred.
