Commentary

Poids léger. Ce type semble plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. C’est la seconde fois que nous le présentons à la vente avec la légende courte.
Lightweight. This type seems rarer than general works suggest. This is the second time we have offered it for sale with the short legend.

Historical background

GETA

(06/198-26/02/212)

Caesar

Born on May 26, 189, Geta became Caesar in 198 and received the title of pontifex the following year. He accompanies his father and his brother to Brittany from 208 and is raised to Augustat the following year. When Septimius Severus died in York on February 4, 211, the two brothers brought their father's ashes back to Rome and became co-emperors. But they hate each other. Finally, after a year of joint rule, Caracalla kills his brother in their mother's arms. Geta is dedicated to "damnatio memoriæ" (damnation of memory). His supporters are systematically massacred.
