Monnaie exceptionnelle, avec une frappe centrée mais un peu molle au revers et un revers de qualité idéale. Belle patine grise de collection ancienne

Obverse description : Swastika, aux quatre bras en esses contournées, flammées et marquées d’un point central, à leur jonction ; quatre esses, bouletées aux extrémités, se trouvent entre les bras.

Reverse legend : [COVE / RTOM] / OTVL.

Reverse description : Dans une rouelle à quatre rayons, une olivette avec tigelle et unie au centre aux 1er, 2e et 4e canton ; une hache évidée à gauche, ayant trois points en triangle entre la hache et le manche, au 3e canton ; la légende divisée en trois répartie dans les 4e, 2e et 1er cantons.

Commentary

Drachme d’un type rarrissime sur le marché, pour lequel R. Boudet répertorie néanmoins 15 monnaies, avec seulement deux provenances géographiques ; cinq de Vieille-Toulouse et deux (dont celui-ci) du Causé.
Cet exemplaire de la Collection Savès n’est que le troisième que nous proposons, après le n° 902 de MONNAIES 24 et le n° 590 de MONNAIES 25.
