Drachme sur un flan large avec des types complet au droit et au revers, mais fourrée avec des manques d’argenture par endroits. Usure homogène avec de beaux reliefs un peu émoussés

Reverse description : Cheval bondissant à droite, surmonté par un aurige plutôt qu’une victoire (?) ; un annelet perlé entre deux groupes de trois globules posés en triangle entre les jambes du cheval.

Commentary

Les drachmes dites aux lignes entremêlées étaient encore, il n’y a pas si longtemps complètement inconnues...
Elles sont classées par facilité dans le type V de la série 1244 “types composites (or et argent)” du Nouvel Atlas. L’avers est interprété comme dérivant de Rhoda.
Cet exemplaire ne semble correspondre à aucune des drachmes publiées ; le style du revers est curieusement très proche des quinaires cénomans ou carnutes à la tête casquée.
The so-called intertwined drachmas were still, until not so long ago, completely unknown... They are classified for convenience in type V of series 1244 “composite types (gold and silver)” of the New Atlas. The obverse is interpreted as deriving from Rhoda. This example does not seem to correspond to any of the published drachmas; the style of the reverse is curiously very close to the Cenoman quinarii or carnutes with helmeted heads
