Bronze bien identifiable, mais sur un flan court avec une frappe molle au droit et très décentrée au revers. Patine gris vert

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Obverse description : Grosse tête stylisée à droite, un annelet pointé devant la bouche, un autre devant le front et un dernier derrière la nuque ; le cou orné d’un collier (?).

Reverse

Reverse legend : [VIIRICI].

Reverse description : Cheval libre galopant à gauche, un annelet devant l’encolure et deux au-dessus du dos du cheval ; une ancre au-dessous.

Commentary

La classe III a un revers comparable à celui de la classe II, mais avec une tête à droite à l’avers. Les croissant laissent la place à un gros annelet pointé devant la bouche, entouré de deux ou trois plus petits annelets.
La légende VIIRICI a les pieds des lettres vers l’extérieur sur les exemplaires des classes I et II, mais pas pour les classes III et IV ; la légende donne donc l’impression d’être à l’endroit sur ces deux dernières classes.
Class III has a reverse similar to that of Class II, but with a head to the right on the obverse. The crescents give way to a large pointed annulet in front of the mouth, surrounded by two or three smaller annulets. The legend VIIRICI has the feet of the letters facing outwards on Class I and II examples, but not for Class III and IV; the legend therefore gives the impression of being upright on these last two classes.
