Reverse description : Cheval galopant à gauche, une sorte de poisson à droite entre les pattes ; légende au-dessus du cheval.

Commentary


Ces deniers se répartissent en deux classes ; le droit de la première est assez fin, avec un traitement relativement naturaliste alors que le droit de la seconde est très stylisé avec un gros œil en amande et un nez terminant le front.

The Leuques are mentioned only once in the Gallic Wars. Their neighbors were the Médiomatriques, the Lingons and the Séquanes. The Leuques as well as the Séquanes and the Lingones provided Caesar with wheat when the Roman army stopped at Vesontio (Besançon) to refuel before facing the Germans of Ariovistus (58 BC). Caesar (BG. I, 40).
