Obverse description : Tête laurée d’Apollon à droite, les cheveux entrelacés, une mèche tombant sur le front.

Reverse description : Cheval stylisé galopant à droite ; au-dessus du cheval, un personnage nu, tenant un fouet d’une main et de l’autre les rênes qui passent devant la tête du cheval ; sous le cheval, un loup ; les restes d'un vexillum devant le poitrail ; entre le poitrail du cheval et le loup, un motif en forme de foudre.

Ce quart est l'exacte réduction modulaire de l'hémistatère du même type ! Selon les auteurs du Nouvel Atlas, « il est possible que ce thème loup-cheval dérive d'un statère lourd de la Loire moyenne qui participe aux premières imitations de Philippe ». Notre quart de statère a été publié dans l'étude consacrée à ces séries, dans le RT SENA n° 4, 2011, n° 56. L'exemplaire bga_554060, bien moins bien centré a été vendu 2500€ sur un ordre de 3988€ en décembre 2019.
This quarter is the exact modular reduction of the hemistater of the same type! According to the authors of the Nouvel Atlas, “it is possible that this wolf-horse theme derives from a heavy stater from the middle Loire which participated in Philippe's first imitations”. Our quarter stater was published in the study devoted to these series, in RT SENA n° 4, 2011, n° 56. The copy bga_554060, much less well centered, was sold for €2,500 on an order of €3,988 in December 2019
