Beau portrait. Métal légèrement piqué, laissant apparaître le placage superficiel de l’hémistatère. Très joli revers, de joli style, fin jusque dans les plus petits détails

Reverse description : Cheval stylisé galopant à droite ; au-dessus du cheval, un personnage nu, tenant un fouet d’une main et de l’autre les rênes qui passent devant la tête du cheval ; sous le cheval, un loup ; les restes d'un vexillum devant le poitrail ; entre le poitrail du cheval et le loup, un motif en forme de foudre.
Commentary
Pour un hémistatère fourré, le poids est lourd, comparable à ceux du Cabinet des médailles (BN 7170, 3,82 g et BN 7171, 3,85g). Un poids comparable se retrouve pour l’hémistatère de la collection Voltz, Auctiones 25, 19-21 juin 1995, n° 1212. L’exemplaire trouvé au Vieil-Évreux au XIXe siècle et aujourd’hui perdu pesait 4,54 g (Sch/E. 168).
For a filled hemistatery, the weight is heavy, comparable to those in the Cabinet of Medals (BN 7170, 3.82 g and BN 7171, 3.85 g). GALLIA - AULERCI EBUROVICES (Area of Évreux)
(3rd - 1st century BC)
The Aulerci were subdivided into three tribes: Aulerci Diablintes, Aulerci Cenomani and Aulerci Éburovices. The territory of Aulerques Éburovices corresponds to the current department of Eure. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. According to the latter, they would have massacred their Senate favorable to the Romans in 56 BC and would have joined the Unelles and the revolted Lexoviens. In 52 BC, they provided a contingent of three thousand men to the relief army. : Caesar (BG.(II, 34; III, 17, 29; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 7). Kruta: 72.
