Ces deniers à la tête casqués sont plus variés qu’il n’y paraît, tant au niveau des types de revers que de la métrologie...
Cet exemplaire particulièrement léger est de même type que la “division originale” DT. 2365 qui pesait 0,53 gramme.

GALLIA - AULERCI CENOMANI (Area of Le Mans)

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The Aulerci are a very large people who are subdivided into three large tribes, including the Aulerci Cenomani who were located to the south-east of the Aulerci Diablintes (Mayenne basin), in the current department of Sarthe. Their city in the Gallo-Roman era, Vindunum, perpetuates their name in the form of Le Mans. In 52 BC, they provided a contingent of five thousand men for the relief army of Vercingetorix, besieged in Alesia. Caesar (BG. VII, 75). Kruta: 72, 187, 266.
