Galerie métallique des grands hommes français.
Jean-Jacques Barthélemy, dit l’abbé Barthélemy, né le 20 janvier 1716 à Cassis en Provence et mort à Paris le 30 avril 1795, est un ecclésiastique, archéologue, numismate et homme de lettres français.
Venu à Paris en 1744 avec une lettre d'introduction pour Claude Gros de Boze, secrétaire perpétuel de l'Académie royale des inscriptions et belles-lettres et garde du Cabinet des médailles au sein de la Bibliothèque du roi, il devient son assistant et entre à l'Académie en 1747. En 1753, il prend la succession de Gros de Boze et conserve ce poste jusqu’à la Révolution.
Metal gallery of great French men. Jean-Jacques Barthélemy, known as Abbé Barthélemy, born on January 20, 1716 in Cassis in Provence and died in Paris on April 30, 1795, was a French clergyman, archaeologist, numismatist and man of letters. He came to Paris in 1744 with a letter of introduction for Claude Gros de Boze, permanent secretary of the Royal Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres and keeper of the Cabinet of Medals within the King's Library, he became his assistant and entered the Academy in 1747. In 1753, he succeeded Gros de Boze and held this position until the Revolution.
