Monnaie sur un flan court et fourré, avec des manques de la pellicule d’argent par endroits. Le droit est complet, mais mal venu avec l’âme en bronze visible sur tout l’arrière de la tête. Le revers est légèrement décentré, mais bien net

Commentary
Si le revers se rapproche des monnaies attribuées à Maastricht, en Frise, ce type particulier avec la tête à droite et la croix devant le visage en diffère. Cette monnaie est du même type que le n° 994 de MONNAIES 32 (vendu 459 sur un ordre de 1250€).

FRISIA - ANGLO-SAXONS
(7th-8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
