Saint Pierre and Miquelon is a French archipelago in the North Atlantic, located 25 km south of the Canadian island of Newfoundland. In the aftermath of the Second World War, the former colony became an overseas territory (TOM) in 1946. The island then became an overseas department (DOM) then a territorial community with special status. Today it is an overseas collectivity (COM).
