Commentary

Hugues Belin a surtout mené une carrière consacrée aux affaires extérieures de la cité. En 1668, il est partisan de la négociation avec Louis XIV et représente sa cité dans un voyage à Paris en tant que député. Aux premières élections ayant lieu sous domination française en 1676, c'est lui qui est élu maire du nouveau Magistrat.
