Ce denier est frappé sur un flan assez large et irrégulier. Exemplaire recouvert d’une légère patine de médaillier. La croix du revers apparaît en négatif au droit

Les deniers avec la légende BLEDONIS ou LEDONIS ont longtemps posé des problèmes d'attribution. D’abord classé à Blainville dans la Manche, ces monnaies ont été ensuite attribuées de manière certaine à l’atelier de Lons-le-Saunier sur une hypothèse de Morel Fatio. Ce rarissime denier à la tête, inconnu de Poey d’Avant, semble être apparu pour la première fois dans le catalogue de la collection Rousseau rédigé par Benjamin Fillon. Ce type monétaire, n’était connu qu’à trois ou quatre exemplaires, jusqu’à ce que la Compagnie Générale de Bourse ne fasse l’acquisition d’une ancienne collection qui en contenait dix, provenant sans nul doute, d’un dépôt monétaire. Ces dix exemplaires, de style assez variés, donneront lieu à une publication comprenant une étude par coin et une analyse métrologique. Ces deniers sont difficilement datables et ont probablement été frappés vers l’an 1000.
Deniers with the legend BLEDONIS or LEDONIS have long posed attribution problems.
