This coin, whose theme is “The Sower,” is part of a series of 8 circulation coins in gold and silver precious metals. In 2008, the 5 and 15 Euro silver coins and the 100 Euro gold coins were issued; in 2009, the 10 and 25 Euro silver coins and the 250 Euro gold coins were issued. Finally, in 2010, the 50 Euro silver and 500 Euro gold coins were issued. This series is composed like a comic strip, with each denomination detailing a gesture of the sower. Placed end to end, the coins compose the portrait of the sower throwing stars.
