Commentary
On January 14, 1882, Maria DERAISMES was the first woman to be initiated in France, thanks to the transgression of Freemasons belonging to an exclusively male Lodge \\\"Les Libres Penseurs\\\" in the East of Le Pecq. She gave a speech in Le Pecq on July 14, 1882 on the occasion of the inauguration of the bust of the Republic of Communes by Jacques France, of which our token offers an example and which it commemorates. Maria DERAISMES, the first woman initiated into Freemasonry, was a propagandist for women's rights (see her biography at http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Deraismes). Paul LECREUX, named after Jacques FRANCE, is a Freemason sculptor. The Rouen Museum preserves a Bust of the Republic by him. We also owe him a Marianne adorned with Masonic attributes and a medallion of The Republic of the Communes dedicated to his friend Carré (Museum of Freemasonry). Missing from Labouret!
